Fredensborg – Summer residence of the Royal family
Fredensborg is a Danish municipality on the land amidst the North Sea between Helsingor and Hillerod. Approximately 20,000 people live in the beautiful tiny village with its picturesque surrounding.
The castle Fredensborg, build 1720-1722 is the main attraction and sight of the municipality one of the most remarkable buildings of the Northern baroque. The name „Fredensborg“ which would be denominated „peace castle“ in English should remember to the peace between Denmark and Sweden after the end of the large Northern War.
The complex is used as accommodation of the Danish royal family during the summer months.
