Esbjerg – Young city and gate to the world

The city of Esbjerg which has 82,000 inhabitants is located in the southwestern part of Jutland and has the most important sea harbour of Denmark.

The settlement was found not earlier than at the time of the resolution of building the harbour in 1869 and then experienced a fast upturn. Esbjerg is now an often visited tourist city, many holiday homes, holiday flats and hotels offer a relaxing time for the guests. The friendliness and hospitality of the people in Esbjerg is exemplary.

Landmark of the city is the watertower with its shape like being a castle. The cityscape is dominated by straight, open streets, full of light and life.

The monument of Cristian IX. throwns on the market square besides many impressive buildings. Once upon a time the Havnegade has been the most exclusive street of the city, the impressive lodge houses are well preserved.

Everyone who also likes shopping will love Esbjerg, leaving the hotel or the holiday flat and arrives at the same moment on the largest pedestrian areas of Denmark, the Kongesgade which doesn´t leave any of the consumer´s wishes unfulfilled.

It´s the best time for searching and finding amber at the beach when the storm over the sea is subsided. Anyone who was  not successful should visit one of the most beautiful amber exhibitions at the Esbjerg Museum.

The exhibitions can also be interesting for children, the Fisher and maritime museums offfers a salt water aquarium, a common seal pool and an open air museum.
Those loving lots of activity during their holiday will find borderless action at the water park named “Action”, bowling, driving go-karts or golfing.
