The Eastern part of Iceland is amongst the most popular regions if it´s about trekking tours. The probable reason for that is one of the most important sights of Iceland which is located there. The Vatnajokull is a natural wonder of the outstanding type. It is the largest glacier of whole Europa, it simply has breathtaking dimensions.

The national park Skaftafell is especially well worth the visit, which reaches as long as to the Vatnajokull.  It´s size is 1,600 square kilometres. More than 200 different species of plants can be found there - at this green paradise between the glacier ice. Friends of hiking and trekking find a magnificent landscape here. Guided tours are also offered up to the Hvannadakshnukur, the highest mountain of Iceland. A breathtaking view on the Eastern Iceland is provided by this mountain which is 2,119 m tall.

The Eastern part of Iceland is an area which is more minted by the nature than by cities.  With that
also Hotels in the Eastern part of Iceland are rather rare.  However you can find them, for example in villages like Djupivogur. This village directly at the Sea has a beautiful small harbor and has even been earlier an important trade spot.

Some also likes it more to stay at a farm and to familiarize himself really with the people of Eastern  Iceland. To experience the friendliness close by is also an extremely beautiful experience. Human and animal living together friendly this is possible on a farm in Eastern Iceland.
