Duesseldorf - The coloured town on the Rhine

In spite of a more than 700-year-old history Duesseldorf is a youthful town. Only in the 19th century it outgrew the medieval connection. Charm and dynamism between "Kö", art and carnival emboss the face of the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Many attractive hotels, summer cottages and flats are available to the numerous guests. A ramble through the world-famous “Königsallee” bypasses the boutiques of international fashion designers, exclusive shops of antiquities or elegant jewellery shops.

Since 1995 Duesseldorf with the water front possesses another promenade, it extends starting from the Burgplatz along the Rhine. On the way in one of the countless comfortable pubs and ale houses of the Old Town you may enjoy a dreamlike panorama. With pleasant old style beer, the “Altbier” at the "world’s longest bar" it might not be difficult to come into conversation and to be carried away by the Rhenish vitality of these likeable, open-minded people.

The fact that the former princes built their castles with extensive parks beyond the town walls Duesseldorf offers the unique imprint of a green field town. In 1770 the Hofgarten was created, here you find the academy of arts, the opera and the theatre. In the Nordpark the Löbbecke Museum and the Japanische Garden invites for a visit. To dip into the world of the fishes and amphibians in the Aqua Zoo is also a great experience for landlubbers.
