Angels play a role when the Dresden Striezel Market, the oldest Christmas market in Germany, opens its gates. The historic atmosphere and the friendly people make a visit here an experience which could be awarded more than one star.

The highlight is a stollen, weighing about 4 tons, which is transported during a parade from the Dresden Zwinger to the old market, where the pastry is devoutly cut with a 1.6 meter long stollen knife and sold in bits.

You can spend the night in selected hotels near to River Elbe bicycle path or in cozy pensions or hotel  whose owners still really look forward to having guests. A good and inexpensive alternative for families which will fulfill all wishes is to book a roomy vacation apartment.
