Dijon –Enchanting Burgundy

When you hear the name of Dijon you may firstly think of mustard. But the enchanting city in the Burgundy region is a destination well worth the visit. Dijon has history long ago to foregone eras und many sights and buildings are yet testifying the ancient history of the city. Many comfy hotels and boarding houses pamper their guests to their heart´s content and it´s the perfect origin for an extensive stroll through the medieval city center

There one of the most ancient museums of France can be found, the museum of Beaux-Arts  which enchants not only those loving art. This museum is accommodated in the former ducal palace build in the 17th century.

The quarter around the dukes palace is especially suitable for a comfortable walk where you will feel like set back to former centuries due to the fact that there are magnificent patrician houses of the renaissance era and the Middle Ages.

If you then rest in one of the comfortable restaurants and enjoy the delicious French cuisine then the flair of this time gone by becomes alive again.

Dijon is also a city with multitude of churches extremely worth a visit, like for example the Cathèdrale Saint Bènigne, where the Holy Benignus is buried. The church Saint-Michel constructed in the late Gothic era accommodates many pieces of arts which unconditionally should be seen.

The monastery church of the Bernhardins a magnificent baroque building with a fascinating museum of sacred arts. Dijon is an extremely exciting city with an unbelievable magnitude of pieces of arts which enchant nearly everyone.
