Detroit - paradise for car lovers

The eleventh largest city in the USA is entirely under the sign of the automobile. Detroit is, without question, a city which will always be connected to the production of cars, after all the city is home to the largest American automobile company, General Motors. 
It is also home to a population of over 800,000, although the city used to have double as much inhabitants, with the decrease of the industry, the population sank as well. 

But Detroit is still a lively city which has a lot to offer for tourists. The NAIAS, the North American International Auto Show, for example, which takes place in the auto city Detroit each winter and draws not only Americans but also tourists from all over the world. 

During these days, it is, of course, not always easy to find a pension or a hotel in the city since the exhibition draws more than 800,000 visitors within just two weeks, so almost as many people as the city’s own population. 

If you would like to visit the region surrounding Detroit, you must remember that that the climate in this region can be quite extreme. Cold days mainly dominate the climate here; the summers in Michigan are short which, however, is not uncommon for one of the most northern States.
