Darmstadt – City of Science

In the southern part of the German county of Hesse and located amidst the Rhine-Main area is Darmstadt. Due to its Technical University founded in the year 1877 and the three universities of applied sciences it gained the title „city of Science“ by the department of the interior of the county of Hesse. Whoever is renting at a hotel or a comfortable vacation flat gains the possibility to take part in a variety of leisure programmes.

Due to the fact that Darmstadt was able to create the artist's colony of Mathildenhöhe by grand duke Ernst Ludwig the city is well-known as a centre for art nouveau. Therefore everyone who is fond of this era of art shouldn't miss a visit to this unique composition. Who has disptached enough of culture can make a sidetrip to the green nature.

This doesn't mean that you have to leave the city of Darmstadt.  Really not, because of the fact that the city has some outstanding designed public parks and even a botanical garden near of the Technical University. The Vivarium of Darmstadt is also worth for a visit which is home for a great variety of animals from all over the world.

Even those who are addicted to shopping will feel good in the pedestrian area of the city centre. Numerous department stores, boutiques and specialist shops leave no wishes unaccomplished. After a day full of events one can let the experienced pass by at a candle-light dinner in the restaurant.

Regardless of which type accomodation you have chosen, a  vacation flat in a familiar style or a luxurious stay at a hotel in the city centre, Darmstadt is always worth a visit.
