In 1695, the Elector Friedrich III had the pleasure palace Charlottenburg built for his wife, Sophie Charlotte, in the heart of the Charlottenburg district. Directly next to it you will find the Egyptian Museum with the Nofretete bust and the Berggruen Museum which exhibits modern art. 

The area around the Breitscheid Square is the liveliest in Berlin; from here Berlin’s number one promenade, the Kurfürstendamm, stretches 3.5 kilometers long to Wilmersdorf.
