Central Greece, Greece (Mainland)

 

Greece: in this country, the ancient world and modern ages are united both on the mainland and on numerous small islands in the middle of the Aegean Sea, in the Ionian Sea and in the Libyan Sea. The mountainous region of the Greek mainland is Central Greece. A landscape which is often also called "Mainland Greece" due to its location.

This name, however, which may sound a little bit boring and bleak to some ears, is very misleading! Central Greece is considered as a historic landscape of the country and is characterised by typical villages, pine woods and antique sites.

The amphitheatre with the sacrificial altar for Apollo, for example, is unique, one of the most famous sites in Greece, which tourists can marvel at on a discovery tour. It is only natural that Central Greece has, however, a lot more to offer.

Some of these sights are, for example, the legendary city of Thebes, which was once the home town of Oedipus and Heracles, or Delphi, a very popular and famous sight in Greece.
