Central Luzon - the rice Chamber of the Philippines

Central Luzon is a region consisting of seven provinces. It lies on the main island of Luzon, north of the capital region Metro Manila and stretches from the west coast on the southern Chinese Sea to the Philippine Sea on the east coast.

This region is known as the country’s “Rice Chamber“ and is formed by a large, fertile plain on which about 8.3 million people live and work.  The Sierra Madre plateau is connected to this plain.
On the east coast of the province Aurora, bathers will find many beautiful beaches and bathing resorts with international hotels. The spacious Baler Bay is known as a surfing paradise.

Luzon’s regional center is San Fernando. This large city is especially known for its gigantic lantern celebration which takes place in December every year. The historic city center with its cathedral and magnificent public and private buildings in Spanish Colonial style are definitely worth seeing. 

The city  „Angeles City“ –northwest of San Fernando- is known as the largest entertainment center in the Philippines. The former US “Clarke Airbase” was converted to a huge leisure center with a golf course, shopping centers, motels and a casino.

The most popular „ bar mile“ is Fields Avenue. Angeles City is a good starting point for tours to the mighty Pinatubo volcano and its bizarre but beautiful surroundings.
