Canberra, the capital city of Australia is only the eighth largest city of the continent. It got its function and the right to be the capital city as late as 1908 as a trade-off between the quarrel between Sydney and Melbourne about the right of being the capital city. Canberra has a pcituresque location amidst the Snowy Mountains and is constructed as a garden city with many not built-up areas. Additionally a large lake, the Lake Burley Griffin, where the Molonglo River is dammed up provides additional areas for recreation amidst a turbulent and pulsating metropolis. The non populated areas are the Canberra National Park and not at least this beneficial  fact allures many tourists year by year which also don´t shy the travel to Australia.

Canberra has caused by its function as a center of administration the corresponding buildings. The House of Parliament on Capitol Hill which was dedicated in 1998 is insofar an architectural particularity as it is built into a hill. The parliament used before and located northern to the new one is ornamented richly and baroque.
