The Romanian capital, Bucharest, has many sights and quarters worth seeing. The historic Old Town is to be especially mentioned. Although many of the old buildings became victims of the renewal of the city, there are still a few to be seen. One of them is the old Hanul lui Manuc "Karawanserei" which was built in the 18th century. The romantic quarters with their mysterious streets around the old royal court invite you to long walks. 

The many museums in Bucharest are an attraction for hobby historians. The Bojaren Palace, built in the 19th century, is home to the history museum. Further museums can be found in the royal castle and at the foot of the Herastrau Lake.

But Bucharest’s cultural program also offers much diversity. Theater, opera, restaurants, cinemas or live music in summer make sure you are entertained during your vacation. The Romanian cuisine must also be mentioned here, which has a rich array of dishes to offer.

Bucharest’s near vicinity is excellent for excursions. Old cloisters, churches and castles are just waiting for visitors to come and see them. There are a variety of accommodations. As Romania is also a favorite with backpackers, accommodations in all price categories are available. The offers range from simple pensions to standard hotels.
