Bottrop - green oasis in the Ruhr area

Bottrop is located in the north of the Ruhr, near the towns of Gelsenkirchen and Oberhausen. Those living in a holiday flat or hotel in Bottrop will be hooked by the overwhelming leisure time facilities for the whole family. Bottrop is considered to be the greenest city in the Ruhr.

In the city garden, art aficionados will find the museum centre "Quadrat" with a gallery of the painter Josef Albers. Twice a year, horses, ponies and donkeys change hands, following an old tradition. The horse market in Bottrop attracts thousands of visitors and offers a colourful social program. Bottrop’s landmark is the viewing point "Tetraeder", formed as a three-sided pyramid by the architect Wolfgang Christ.

At the stockpile “Beckstraße“, from the construction standing 60 metres high, visitors will have an impressive panorama of the mining area. Those spending their holidays in a holiday flat or a hotel in Bottrop should take their skis with them.

In the "Alpincenter" at the former stockpile “Prospestraße“, a ski hall with 640 metres of length was built, which offers a high level of ease and guarantees fun. The Movie Park in Bottrop Kirchhellen is the most popular attraction.

White-water rides, a wooden roller coaster, a Giant Wheel and numerous theme shows leave nothing to be desired. At the same time, a leisure park for smaller children was built on the premises of the baroque castle “Beck“, with classic play equipment and a creepy cellar.
