Barnimer Land – Paradise of nature behind the gates of Berlin

The Barnimer Land is located Northeastern of Berlin. Holidaymakers will find silence and relaxartion in front of a scenery of a unique cultural landscape. The boarding houses and hotels cater for the perfect framework for an unforgettable stay at the Barnimer Land.

The biosphere reserve Schorfheide is known as the second largest nature reserve of Germany with its vast forests, heath landscape and lakes. The Gem is the Werbellin lake with a length of 13 kilometers which arised as a rivulet lake during the last ice age. The cyclist´s long-haul route Berlin-Usedom passes on its shoreline. Pure opportunities for bathing and swimming as well as sailing and canoeing complete the offers at the lake. It is very popular to cruise through the Werbellin lake with a passenger ship.

 

The main village of the Barnimer Land is Bernau. The city wall from the 14th century with a legnth of 1,5000 meter encloses the history of 800 years. The gothic church of the holy Marie with its rich interior, the house of the executioner and the stone gate.

The landmark of Eberswalde is redbrick basilica from the 13th century. The center is passed by the Finow channel one of the most ancient navigable stretch of water of Europe. The Adler pharmacy is the most ancient building of the village and accommodate the city museum. A replica of the gold treasure of Eberswalde on of the most important troves of the bronze age is exhibited here.
