The Baltic Sea - a sea surrounded by land

The Baltic Sea is considered by some to be actually a gigantic saltwater lake, which is not completely incorrect, for its only - indirect- access to the open sea is the relatively narrow connection with the North Sea.
The Baltic is a calm sea that you are sure to like. It is bordered by the German states of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Schleswig-Holstein and off its coast are the islands Rügen, Usedom, and Hiddensee. Famous personalities such as Albert Einstein, Gerhart Hauptmann, Joachim Ringelnatz, Thomas Mann, and Billy Wilder succumbed to the charms of Hiddensee. Was it perhaps the peace of the island, which even today has almost no cars and where horse-drawn carriages are still used, that attracted them?

From your holiday cottage or your holiday flat, you can undertake a lot of interesting activities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern You will have the possibility to inform yourself in the German Maritime Museum in Stralsund about the marine diversity and its pattern of utilisation . Or just relax while having long walks through the beautiful scenery of the sandy dunes of the baltic sea. What about taking diving lessons or chartering a yacht to sail around Ruegen?
