Holidays in Poland - Pomerania Baltic coast

The Baltic coastline of Pomerania, called Pomorze in the national language, runs from Zalew Lagoon in the west – called Zalew Szczecinski in Polish – across a number of small, dreamy bathing resorts to the region’s largest city called Gdansk. Actually, the coastline extends still a little further, namely to the point where the Wisla, the River Vistula, flows into the Baltic Sea, but the visitor will probably not take such a close look.

Those thinking of renting a holiday home or hotel room on the coast of Pomorze will explore an area which is on its best throughout the whole year. On the one hand, there is the scenery with its rough cordiality and the seemingly endless vastness of the Baltic Sea; on the other hand, there is the history of many towns and villages which is almost 1.000 years old. Last but not least – and this is a fact which should have been mentioned first – the hospitality of the people living there; but this is something that is similar throughout Poland.

Winters in Pomerania are cold and snowy. This is a good reason for looking back on the day’s adventures after long walks or city tours. For doing this, travellers can take the opportunity and have something to eat in a well tempered hotel restaurant or in one of the many small restaurants offering the country’s rustic cuisine.

In the warmer seasons – if the Baltic Sea’s water temperature allows it – holidaymakers can be found mostly on the beach or in the sea. The beaches are not crammed with people – tourists can expect very relaxed holidays. Still, they can make long excursions, either to Pomerania’s history or through fields and meadows. The stay in the holiday home, guesthouse or hotel room will anyway be too short, as well as the whole holiday in Pomorze.
