Baden Baden – Health Resort with international Flair

The therapy and spa town Baden-Baden is situated on the brink of the Black Forest, not far from the French border. Eleven warm thermal baths form the base for a multitude of curative treatments. Particularly worth mentioning are the Roman-Irish steam baths or the modern bathing centre Caracalla spa.

Those accommodated in a pension or hotel in Baden-Baden should not miss a visit of the spa garden. They can either rummage in the shop windows of the high-end boutiques in front of the wellness and therapy centre, try the curative thermal waters in the historic drinking hall or try their luck in the casino.

Along the Lichtentaler Allee, visitors will pass the gorgeous Jugendstil gardens of the Cistercian convent of Lichtental. The historic city extends along the castle hill. In the abbey church, tourists can visit the tomb of the margrave Louis William.

In the New Castle, which served as dwelling of the ducal family, the historic collections of the city of Baden-Baden are housed. During a stay in a motel or hotel in Baden-Baden, it is well worth hiking to the 670 metre high Merkur Mountain.

From there, visitors will enjoy a wonderful view of the city and the Rhine Valley. Baden-Baden is considered as starting point of the Black Forest elevated road, which leads to Freudenstadt and passes all tourist attractions of the low mountain range.
