Auvergne, Republic of France

 

Auvergne is a region in the middle of France which not only has a beautiful landscape to offer but also many sights. The area, formed by volcano landscapes, is known as a true nature paradise and is especially popular with hikers and nature friends. Hillsides covered with grape vines, idyllic lakes and an array of tiny villages invite you to linger and daydream.

The larger cities of the Auvergne region are, amongst others, Clermont-Ferrand, Vichy, Montlucon, Moulin and Le Puy-en-Velay. Diverse sights show the long past and quite eventful past of the country.

Impressive cathedrals, castles, fortresses and timbered houses form the area’s characteristic scenery. Old cities and dreamy alleyways convey a hint of antiquity to their visitors.
