Province Mendoza – near to heaven

In the west of Argentina there is a region of extremes. On the one hand, this province the biggest parts mostly consists of sandy dry steppe, on the other hand the mountain ranges of the South American Andes are found in the west. In the north of the province of Mendoza there is the capital of the region of the same name. In it and its outlying districts over half a million people are living.

The town with its hotels, motels and holiday apartments offers itself as starting point for a visit of the Andes. All around the city of Mendoza there are big wine-growing districts by which it has come to the epithet „Town of the sun and good wine“. The hospitable inhabitants know to celebrate this properly, every year since 1913 the party of the vintage takes place.

All three months they celebrate up to March extensively, then the festivities in the amphitheatre of the town find her climax. Also a possibility using a holiday apartment, a motel or a hotel in the province of Mendoza is to climb the highest mountain of South America.

The Aconcagua is proudly 6.962 metres high, nevertheless, mountaineers they say that at least the north side of this stony colossus is easily to be climbed. Anyhow this is nothing for inexperienced summiteers. If you have the right experience and the suitable equipment, you can fulfil your dream of the crest of Aconcagua.
