Antwerp – Diamonds, Baroque, Fashion and more

People who love arts or shopping, who are interested in diamonds or exploring the second largest harbour of Europe, as well as tourists who like well preserved old towns, should look for a holiday-apartment or a hotel in Antwerp. Indeed, the 460.000 citizen city has many different sides.

Antwerp is located north of Brussels, near the Dutch border and in the Belgian region Flandern.
Antwerp is the most important trading centre for diamonds in the world – tourists can convince themselves of this fact by visiting the Diamond Quarter close to the central railway station. Antwerp has four exchanges for diamonds and additional to that various diamond companies and jewellers. During a visit at the Diamond Museum you can even watch real professional diamond polishers at work.

Also a boat trip around the harbour of Antwerp, which is one of the largest in the world, is recommendable. Those trips are offered in different time frames and on various routes. People, who are interested in arts, will be fascinated from the huge amount of museums in the city.  You can also find several baroque treasures, like the 15th century`s churches and guildhalls around the Grote Market or the Cathedral of Our Lady.

But Antwerp is also a city of fashion. Here you can see exclusive designer shops offering the latest labels side by side with cheeky second-hand-shops. And last but not least, countless bars, cafés and restaurants in the old town along the Schelde shores and around the Groenplaats invite you to enjoy culinary specialities.
