Almost no other bathing resort nestles as beautifully to the Turkish Mediterranean coast as Alanya. The majestic castle hill looks down upon the city, which extents far into the sea. Once there was a Seljuq fortress on the hill; today the picturesque historic city lies here. Visitors will find an Oriental-exotic caravansary and a mosque which is just as worth seeing.

On the right and left side of the Seljuq castle, there are fantastic beaches and dark blue water. Lonely bays invite tourists to bathe, just as hotels’ own pools and well-kept lidos. Here there are also numerous hotels and holiday flats of Alanya – often directly on the turquoise sea.

But Alanya is not only a dream destination for seaside holidaymakers – water sports aficionados will also get their money’s worth. Diving, sailing, surfing and much more – all that is possible in Alanya. Those looking for refreshment of different cast should visit the dripstone cave at the foot of the castle hill. Here there is an agreeable temperature of 22 degrees Celsius during the whole year.

From there it is not far to the lonely bay where Cleopatra is said to have bathed once. Her private beach is said to have been here, with a secret entrance and its own shower. By the way: in Roman times, Alanya was feared as pirates’ nest – and there is something mystical about the place until today...
