Oberlausitz, Saxonia

 

The Oberlausitz is located Eastern of Germany in the true heart of the state of Saxony and next-door to the Czech Republic and Poland. Due to this it is the perfect origin for excursions and whistle-stop trips. The Oberlausitz offers an entertaining fireworks of the variations of the scenery in the North you will find a pond and heather landscape, embedded into the rambling mountainous area of ther Sourth and the fauna as well as the connection to the hilly meadows which can be used for agriculture.

A linguistic peculiartity, the rolling „R“, the Sorbian traditions as well as the Sorbian language are noticeable. The Oberlausitz is like an opened fairy tale book around the treasures which are guarded by the so called „Querxe“. You can familiarize yourself with the „Querxe“ (the guards of the treasures) in the fairy tales of the Oberlausitz. Relaxation is written in capital letters in the „Blue Adria“ an attractive camping site at the edge of a natural reserve.

The friendly camping site is opened all the year round. You can be flabbergasted in the Saurierpark Kleinwelka near Bautzen where one can admire many reproduced sauriers in their original size, furthermore find the right path in the labyrinth or can hobnob with the Sauriers in a net climbing facility. Rail enthusiasts are delighted by a sidetrip to Olbersdorf near Zittau.

Here one of the scarce well-preserved light railways chugs to the Zittauer Gebirhe. Moreover a train through the forests gasps to Bad Muskau. Families with children will have real fun with a visit of the TRIXI park near Schönau. In the nature holiday park there are beautifully located holiday homes, furthermore an adventure pool and even a tropical bath in direct proximity.

The cultural islands Einsiedel in Zentendorf is a spectacular adventure playground for the grown ups and the little ones. The subterranean labyrinth, the robbers castle and the enchanted castle with a ghost cellar and search for the treasure are unique attractions on the cloak-and-dagger island.
