Neckar Valley, Baden-Wuerttemberg

 

The idyllic Neckar Valley in the northeast of Baden Wurttemberg borders on the Neckar River between Mannheim and Heilbronn. The romantic river valley is known for its loveliness and presents vacationers with pristine nature, an oasis for reenergizing and taking a break from everyday stress. 

While taking a stroll, you will suddenly realize that breathing deeply is fun and that all the things on your to do list at the office are no longer that important. A few steps on the spongy forest ground take away pressure, bring you back to your roots and relax you as meditating would. 

You can easily explore the region without being pressured for time on a bike or boat tour along the Neckar River. But also a leisurely drive along one of the most beautiful valley roads in Germany is worth while. You can enjoy the magnificent panorama, the view of the vineyards, green mountains and the mysterious castles and fortresses.

Already Mark Twain found the picturesque Neckar Valley to be the epitome and the height of beauty and during his stay there, he thought the Neckar Valley’s peaceful atmosphere and exploring it by raft to be a godly institution. Everything you have every read about Romanticism is present in the Neckar Valley. Castles, fortresses, towns with meditative corners, wuthering forest gorges as well as bizarre rock formations all encourage visitors to believe in the fantasy world of sagas and fairy tales.  

You do not have to spend the night in a witch’s cottage – there are very cozy hotels, pensions and vacation homes which all exceed each other in hospitality and are rowed together like a string of pearls along the unhurried slalom through the villages.
