Mazuri sea-plate and ermland, Poland

 

Far in the northeast of the People’s Republic of Poland, in a place which is called „Land of the dark forests and a thousand lakes”, you find the voivodeship Warmia I Mazury – Ermeland and Masuria. Characterised by agricultural and forestal activities, having lasted for centuries, far away from metropolises and industrial areas, the region has been a centre of attraction for those looking for relaxation and tranquillity for a long time. In this regard, the area has developed well in the last few years.

Tourists are more than welcome in both small holiday homes and rural hotels, and it is not unusual that a guest becomes a real friend after his or her stay. Nothing could be simpler after having experienced the legendary Polish hospitality closely. One might think that in this place, nature formed men and not the other way round...

A small piece of Baltic beach, deep forests with a wide variety of game and pines as high as forty metres, and, of course, the large number of lakes provides a rich scenic diversification in Masuria.

This results in a wide variety of tourist events, which adapt to the respective landscape. Thanks to various leisure activities such as bathing, sailing, surfing, riding, fishing and, needless to say, spending the days in the great outdoors, there is never a dull moment.

Tourists should pay particular attention to the mostly small, traditional towns. The old buildings tell their stories in both Polish and German, which still reminds of the fact that Ermeland and Masuria once belonged to the administrative district of East Prussia. But this is long gone.
