Lower Austria used to be an outsider but is now on the tourist fast track – increased bookings and enthused guests give their sympathy to this so far neglected spot in Austria. Whoever takes their winter vacation here can indulge in winter sports.

Powder snow and cottages with a sugar icing gloss are the visual incentives for experienced skiers. Vacationers who love the fresh country air chose a farm holiday in summer. Lower Austria is a sheltered region without any tourist centers and pop songs blaring everywhere on the streets. The hotels and pensions here range from small but nice to sophisticated. Lower Austria shows itself from its royal side culturally with its countless castles.

But also Lower Austria’s cuisine is charming and has many delicacies to offer which are well worth tasting. Here you can pleasurably dine and drink but also spend the night in proper style.

The epicure rooms in the cider quarter, in the wine quarter and on the Danube River have been graded valuable concerning natural beauty, comfort and service. And on the side you can let yourself be seduced and inspired by the Lower Austrian treats. 

Self-pressed cider is not only at home in the cider quarter: in Schneebergland and in the Buckligen Welt many farmers produce their own apple cider and invite you to a glass in their quaint taverns. If you feel like hiking afterwards, you can walk from tavern to tavern in a maudlin manner.
