Lisbon, the Portuguese capital, is the pearl of the Iberian Peninsula. Ages ago the city´s position on the seven low hills beside a river allured merchants and settlers and it´s still a fascinating site. Being a mixture of cultural diversity and a place of traditions makes Lisbon to what it is today, truly Portugal. As a matter of fact, the Portuguese western coast happens to be the most populated region in the entire country.

Beside dolphins and sea lions you will find almost every animal, but unlike other zoos you can touch them sometimes. Don´t miss the opportunity to sample the world-famous Lisbon cherry liquor in town. The people in Portugal love it as much as tourists generally do. If you fancy having sea food while you are in Lisbon, there is plenty of opportunity. Nevertheless, take care with some restaurants on the main path in town. The waiters sometimes canvass customers with dinner at rock bottom prices. They´ll offer you starters and drinks as well as desserts.

Eventually, however, you will be shocked about how much your meal really was. Apart from that, your stay in Portugal´s metropolis will be something you will never forget. The exemplary public transport system makes it easy to visit all the places in your guidebook.
