Carinthia, Austria

 

Carinthia lies in the south most province of Austria and is especially known for its wonderful mountain and lake panorama. This Austria vacation destination borders on East Tyrol in the west, on Salzburg and Styria in the north and northeast and in the south on Slovenia and the Italian Friuli and Venetia.

The Klagenfurt Basin lies in Lower Carinthia, surrounded by the Central Alps in the north and Karavanke Mountains in the south. The province capital is Klagenfurt. West of Klagenfurt you can get to know the Woerth Lake free from kitsch, which is a main attraction for summer guests. Carinthia’s most famous river is the Drau River.

The hydroelectric power plants, formerly owned by „Draukraft“, provide the Austrians with 12% of their electric energy. If you like being near water, book a vacation residence at the foot of the Woerth Lake, Millstaett Lake, Ossiach Lake or the White Lake.

But also the smaller lakes, such as the Faak Lake, Klopeinber Lake and Pressegg Lake, are not to be scoffed at with their cleanliness and exemplary camping grounds.

Carinthia is open to soft tourism. If you have had enough of pure nature in the mountain pastures, you can visit the beautiful Nockberge and Hohe Tauern national parks.
