The Berchtesgaden area offers tranquility and fertile land – attributes which lead the vacationer back to his roots. The south most point has two picturesque water bodies with the Hinter Lake and Koenig’s Lake, which are often chosen by artists as a motif. The sunny district of Berchtesgaden, Ramsau and Schönau on the Koenig’s Lake are destinations which will elate the hearts of romantic vacationers.

The Berchtesgaden National Park offers pure nature on a grand scale – it is the only German national park in the Alps. The National Park administration arranges guided hiking tours through the luscious green of the curvy panorama.

For kids there are special extra tours. Other than that, you can also take trips in electric powered boats from the Koenig’s Lake District to Kassel, St. Bartholomä and Salet (Salet Alp).

During the boat trip, the captain will demonstrate the multi-echo off the steep mountain walls to the tourists by playing a trumpet. If you want to go on Shank’s mare, you can go to the high up Watzmann Mountains for a tightrope walk.

You can relax at the enjoyable Bad Griesbach thermal spa or at the Altmühl thermal spa – the wellness oasis in the Altmühl Valley. Skiers can recuperate in a snow paradise; bikers can pedal down the Saline Trail. You can spend the night in Alp hotels, wellness hotels or with local, hospitable landlords.
